My name is Dominique Ballada, I am a beauty therapist, reiki master,
hypnotherapist, meridian therapist and eft practitioner.
I used to be a top Parisian model and graced the covers of Vogue France,
Elle and many other top fashion magazines as well as working for Yves St
Laurant, Mary Quant, Elizabeth Arden and many others, I am now 59 years
old.
Let me tell you my story.
After my successful modelling career, I got married and had two children
whilst working as an interior designer but then things went bad and I got
divorced and I was really down. The years had taken their toll and I
looked old and grey.
I look into the mirror one day and decided to do something about it. I
started to study again but realised there was more to looking younger than
just face cream.

My Story of a Non-Surgical Facelift
First and foremost
allow me to remind you of the option of a surgical facelift and the costs
involved
In Eastern Asia the
possible expense of 8, 000 thats almost 16, 000$. Western Europe and North
America a more inflated price would be 12, 000 (24, 000$). Depending on
where you go the price could increase to 20, 000 to 20, 000.
I am approaching my 51st
birthday and I am finding an increased social pressure to look young, fit
and healthy, if only to keep my career on track; although there are
several other reasons.
Im not about to pull
out my grandma slippers just yet. I wear my jeans and look damn good in
them. I maybe a slim 50-year old, but occasionally get mistook for someone
in their late 30s. This is my claim to fame and as a consequence would
enjoy this to continue.
I am a grandmother,
but prefer to be known as a mother and a legal professional. My salary is
good and could have financed a surgical facelift, but I have chosen to
take the non-surgical route. What I face is another decade is retirement,
but I am not ready yet. I see it as 25 years away; and while ever I
consider this as a true statement it drives me forward in both my career
ambitions and personal motivations.
I dont know whether
you have noticed at all that within our modern society women, but are
expected to look ten years younger than their age. It maybe just an
obsession for me at the moment but while ever it is a driving force Im
going with it.
I have been fortunate
enough to be slim the most part of my life and consider the non-surgical
facelift as an extension to my beauty. I am not the prettiest woman alive,
but have a damn good try at reaching that goal. I smile as I say that, but
I need to remain positive as my appointment is coming up soon.
Both men and women are
denied a mid-life crisis as we have too many balls in the air to keep
juggling. What my parents have managed to gain through their life and may
pass on to us as children, is no longer the eventual goal. It is now their
goal, plus one half is our societys goal. So we need to fend of memory
loss and old age as long as possible. Again I smile, but this is what I
witness.
Becoming 50 was good,
but I did keep it quiet from certain quarters. I didnt seem too long ago
I was turning 30. I look in the news and Sharon Stone has just turned 50
and Madonna is soon to turn 50. Both still look amazing. We should be so
lucky.
So yes when I see
attractive women at 50 Im jealous and want to remain positive. Cher and
Ann Robinson are perfect examples of cosmetic surgery, in the 60s.
Perhaps But I am convinced Im doing the right thing at 50. Should I need
surgery in my 60s they wont be reworking a previous attempt from ten
years earlier.
I also believe there
are various books available for purchase offering exercises and face
massage, to simulate what Im paying for. I think on reflection this
should have been my first step. But the decision is made.
To only a few of my
close friends did I explain what treatment I was pursuing. It was clear
from conversation that many have considered this treatment and its
credibility has risen over the past few years.
One reason that I
decided to proceed with this treatment was the bags under my eyes. Nothing
tragic I may add, but there nonetheless.
This six week course
of treatments is as follows:
1 A series of
minilaser sessions. The purpose is to stimulate facial tissues from the
deeper layers. It does create a short-term face swelling, but nothing I
couldnt handle. The laser is hot, but it does not hurt.
2. Micro Dermabrasion
this is as it sounds; sand like crystals that are blasted at the skin to
clean the surface. This helps to remove dead cells.
3. Photo Rejuvenation
Again this is a type of laser that is able to seal off capillaries and
remove thread veins caused by sun damage. This makes the skin look both
healthier and improves the appearance.
1st Day
On the first day I
note specifically there are plenty of creams ready for application
following my treatment. I receive both the Micro Dermabrasion and the
Laser Treatment.
2nd Day
I am left with various
creams to apply, with varying type of course textures to apply during the
day. The purpose I am told is to repair damage cells from my previous days
exposure to laser and Dermabrasion.
3rd Day
My skin begins to peel
on a massive scale, but I have been prepared for such events. I continue
to apply the creams.
4th Day
My new skin causes
itching, but when this occurs I have a new cream to prevent this
irritation.
5th Day to
the end of 3rd Week
I continue with the
creams, but at the end of this first period I go back to the clinic for
further inspection. Im comfortable with the way events are going. My skin
feels new and fresh, which is confirmed at the clinic. Although my face
without the cream is a little red, not too different to having a mild 1st
day suntan. It remains like this for a few days and reduces its intensity
over the next 3 week period.
6th Visit
Just the minilaser
treatment in this session.
7th Visit
I return the following
day for more laser treatment but more around my eyelids, using the photo
rejuvenation machine. The aim is to remove the small red veins, most
likely caused by excessive sun. Not normally seen on my face as I wear
makeup to cover my eyelids. I receive slightly swollen eyelids and
peeling, but within a couple of days all is back under control.
8th Visit
I return after two
further days for both minilaser and dermabrasion. The following day my
face is peeling once more.
Generally speaking As
Ive not noticed too much at this stage of the so-called improvement. But
as you would expect I am seeing my face a 100 times a day in the mirror; I
check my original photo taken on the day before my first treatment. I can
honestly admit there is some improvement. Suddenly all this embarrassing
peeling and application of cream is paying of.
During all this
treatment I have not been able to wear makeup, but have noticed that my
skin has a much better tone and subsequently will not need the quantity it
had before.
9th Visit
Almost 6 weeks have
passed and my tubs of creams are now exhausted. I return for my final
consultation.
There is no treatment
but just an examination.
The clinic are
impressed that I have kept up the regime of treatment away from the
clinic, applying the necessary creams when and where needed. I am only a
few days away from my last laser treatment so my face has a slight pinky
red look, but the general appearance is far much better than when I
started.
No More Visits
But within 7 days my
face looks marvellous and stunning. I am impressed The improvement is
noticeable. The lines and wrinkles are gone and Im beginning to look as
if Im in my late 30s again.
My verdict cannot be
full as I think I need to review my face again in 6 months and see if any
of the lines have returned. But today as I look in the mirror and I am
impressed.
The cost was almost
3, 000, which is just under 6, 000$ There is room to make it cheaper as you
can opt out of certain laser treatments.
As I sense a radiance
surround my person when I look in the mirror, I now need less makeup and
sometimes I can go without. I am also enthused with an excitement that I
didnt abuse my face with surgery. I can also confirm there is no botox
involved.
A 50-year old looking
35 well almost.
